In Memory of...

This section contains pictures and written memories of friends that we lost along the way...So, If you know of anyone that you would like to see listed here as well. Just let me know

I originally designed this page for one person in particular. He played a big part in my punk years. Those of you that are close to me know what it is I'm talking about. But when I found out that he was gone a little piece of me died with him.

But I was once told that no one is gone forever. As long as you remember them often, they will always be with you. So this is my way of remembering Colin.

Pictures of Colin

A small piece of Colin's life with his friends captured in a comic book.
(this does contain a touchy subject matter for some people...even though it was an big part of our day-to-day lives...so be warned)

But we lost more members of our punk family. So of course I want to remember them forever too. So blessed be their souls, and may they be forever in your memories as well.

"It's so weird and sad to know so many of our friends have died, I can remember a time when I think we all felt so invincible." -Jenn Meier-Bassen

If you would like to add a memory or a picture you have of these friends please send them to me and I will add them to each profile.

Scott Nelson
Scott went to Lincoln High. He killed himself around 1992.
"I remember drinking before school with him and a bunch of others and then arriving at school and running into the vice principal the first thing, Scott was wearing headphones around his neck and was probably too drunk to remember that he was because when Dr. Jones said, "Scott, don't you think I should have that?" (referring to the headphones) Scott said, "Oh yeah." and handed him the half empty bottle of Jack Daniels from out of his duffle bag. Not much ever seemed to go too smoothly for Scott." -Jenn Meier-Bassen

Tony Ebers
Tony went to Southeast. He died around 1998 when he was hit by a car while riding his bike.
"I knew Tony even back in Jr. High. I think I can honestly say that anyone that met Tony would remember him forever. Well at least I did. Tony always had a smile. Which in turn, always made me smile when I saw him. <sigh> Man, I'm going to miss that smile..." -Mindy

"Mindy,
I just happen to be looking on the websites for things about my brother. He was killed June 23rd, 1997 by a drunk driver. He was riding his bike home from work when the car killed him. My daughter was born June 22nd, 1998 - an unplanned pregnancy. She has the same blue eyes. Today is his birthday October 1st 1969. Again, I appreciate you having him in memory - that means more than anything. Take care and have a great day!

Jake Ryan
Jake was the singer for Power of the Spoken Word (PSW). After leaving Lincoln he was rumored to have been dead on many different occasions, but eventually did die from a drug overdose.
"Jake was a huge icon during my days at the Brickyard. I remember standing outside one evening with a group of friends. Jake came up and started talking to us. I was so awe struck that I just stood there with one of the stupidest grins possible on my face. What can I say...he was a god to me back then." -Mindy

Duran Knutzen
Duran died around 1993 from HIV complications. He was best known for his own line of clothing.
"He was probably one of the most colorful characters to ever grace the walls of the Brickyard." -Jenn Meier-Bassen
"I met Duran a couple of times. I was always intrigued by his quiet demeanor. But mostly, I was amazed by his talent as a designer." -Mindy
